Clarence Lee Design wins five awards, including the 2022 Pele Awards category Grand Prize “PELE GOLD”!

The Pele Awards 2022, Hawaii’s largest advertising and design festival (sponsored by AAF Hawaii = American Advertising Association), where excellent works are selected from the advertising and design published in Hawaii every year. Following on from the previous year, this year’s virtual presentation was held on May 20. The next day, May 21, “The 2022 Pele Awards Celebration” was held at the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Ho’okupu Center in the Ward Yacht Harbor. Many advertising and design professionals gathered to honor the winners.

 

Clarence Lee Design received two “PELE GOLD” awards in the Brand Identity and Logo Design categories for the branding design of Neo Bar & Sushi “Mr. Ojisan,” which reopened on King Street. It also received SILVER awards in the Branded Content & Entertainment, Out-Of-Home Campaign, and Outdoor Board categories.

Mr.Ojisan Neo Bar & Sushi is the space where you can enjoy sushi, Japanese a la carte, sake and cocktails, watching sports while drinking with friends, and enjoying karaoke.

The concept of the logo is ” Cyberpunk-style cool Japan, ” And “ESTD 20XX” purposely does not express the actual year, making us feel like the neo-future. “Ojisan” means a middle-aged man in Japanese, so the symbol “Samurai’s uncle” makes us feel like cyberpunk. By using Japanese “Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana” signs and neon signs which appear in neo-futuristic movies and animations as a motif to express the brand visuals. The names of drinks and dishes served here are also written in both English and Japanese.

The exterior and interior are unified with the brand colors calm red and black. The sign is painted directly on the outer wall to give it a texture over time, and the brand visuals on the windows and walls inside the store are the signature of the store. In addition, we aimed to spread the strong brand image by developing visual identities from printed matter such as store cards, gift cards, coasters, to various touch points that are key points of contact with the customer, such as signage and spatial graphics.
