YOHEI SUSHI is a long-established sushi restaurant that has been in Hawaii for over 30 years. Branding and promotion for the opening of a new restaurant that offers a memorable surprise to be enjoyed by all five senses through food, space, and people by fusing the cultures of old Hawaii and new Hawaii.

“Respect” for Japanese immigrants who have walked through 150 years of history. “Gratitude” to Hawaii for accepting the immigrants and supporting the peaceful fusion of the two cultures. To “Giving back” to Hawaii by proposing a new cultural fusion between Japan and Hawaii, thereby contributing to the creation of Hawaii’s culture for the next generation. The three YOHEI SUSHI philosophies were visualized in a brand book, which was used as a vector for the company’s internal alignment.

The promotion using an invitation kit containing the book and dinner invitation tickets in a sleeve was a great success, and the word-of-mouth effect immediately after the opening led to features on TV, newspapers, and other media.

The restaurant was also promoted through photography, video, posters, flyers, and other printed and digital media to promote the excellence of the food and space. Inside the restaurant, we implemented a variety of measures to create an enjoyable time for customers, including cards and menus that offered learning about Japanese culture.

5IVE SENSES is a health bar and cafe based on the theme of the five senses. The “5” in the logo represents the “five senses” and the “hibiscus consisting of five petals,” thus giving the brand name “5ive Senses. The key visual is the hibiscus flower, which is a mystical flower dedicated to the gods in Hawaii and has health benefits, giving the impression of a “brand born in Hawaii. The brand concept of “a healthy and happy lifestyle by using all five senses” is expressed in the key visuals.

Aiming to create a brand that offers “a healthy and happy lifestyle” by offering a new style of “an interactive health bar and café to enjoy with the five senses” and apparel and beauty products, the high-quality vintage-style design gives the viewer a “healthy and Hawaiian” image.

The graphics on the exterior and interior are the store’s signature. The visual identity was deployed at various touch points with customers, such as store cards, business cards, and uniforms, in order to convey the brand image. Since its opening, the stylish store, which was not previously available in Hawaii, has become popular, especially among health-conscious women.
