Kodama Koi Farm, the largest Nishigoi (Koi) farm in America, is dedicated to raising and selling koi–the living jewels of Japanese tradition. Aiming to become the world’s leading distributor of koi, Kodama Koi Farm embarked on a rebranding strategy to elevate the company’s brand value as part of a long-term vision. A key challenge in this process was developing a comprehensive brand strategy, including a set of brand guidelines, and empowering the team to manage marketing and branding in-house.

Rebranding Kodama Koi Farm: The brand that defines Japanese Koi across America.

Starting with the company’s philosophy, a brand concept and strategy was formulated based on a 3C analysis that thoroughly identified the company’s strengths, customers, and competitors. This resulted in a new visual identity that exudes tradition and dignity created with the theme of “Japan and Koi” at its core. The new design instantly evokes feelings of “JAPAN,” while also incorporating a cool, masculine craftsman style, fully expressing the charm of living with koi as a refined hobby.

With a history of over 50 years as a “KOI EXPERT” and the mission to be the “KOI AMBASSADOR” spreading Japanese koi culture across the U.S., Kodama Koi Farm committed to sharing the beauty, craftsmanship, and joy of koi, making the brand synonymous with “Japanese koi” across the country.

The creation of brand guidelines that can be utilized in-house also allows for a consistent design presence across print and digital platforms. Through this moving forward, the entire Kodama team is able to unite under their own philosophy: “Bringing happiness to everyone through koi”. With a shared vision, Kodama Koi Farm is poised for even greater success going forward.
